Yes, we conduct paragliding at Mt. Tamborine! Our Mt. We also have a launch sites at Beechmont, and in the Illinbah Valley.
Yes, it's in our name! Our tandem paragliding Gold Coast Hinterland launch sites are only about 30mins from the Gold Coast.
Yes, our Tandem Paragliding Brisbane launch sites are only about an hour away from Brisbane and there are many routes from Brisbane (M1, Mt. Lindsey Highway) to our Launch sites. There are no launch sites within Brisbane itself, due to the low airspace surrounding Brisbane International Airport. Wouldn't want to bump into a jumbo jet!
Paragliding and Parasailing are two very different things. Parasailers are always attached to a vehicle (usually a motor boat) that generates enough momentum that pulls the parasail up into the air while the vehicle move. It remains connected to the vehichle. Paragliding however, is a recreational and competitive flying sport. A paraglider is a free-flying, foot-launched aircraft, capable of flying hundreds of kilometers in one flight, and reaching thousands of feet into the air. So if you're looking for parasailing near Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, come try Paragliding instead on the Gold Coast Hinterland!
Unlike Paragliders, Hang Gliders are large rigid aircraft. Paraglides are easily transportable, and they fit into backpacks, making them a more practical choice for carrying. The hang glider on the other hand can’t fit in a backpack, due to their metallic structure, they can’t be folded so the people who usually own one strap it to their roof racks on their cars. Paragliders are very convenient. On our Mt. Tamborine launch site, the Paraglider pilots will have often had 3 seperate flights by the time the Hang Gliders are ready to launch their first!
We focus on paragliding for the reasons mentioned above in the last FAQ. We can setup a paraglider and go flying in a fraction of the time it would take to set up a hang glider. But if you have your heart set on hang gliding on the Gold Coast or near Brisbane, get in touch, we know all the local Hang Gliding operators on a first name basis!
Our Brisbane and Gold Coast Paragliding High Glide Tandem Flight Experience from Mt. Tamborine are only $195.
Tandem Paragliding means two people can fly in a single paraglider at the same time. It is larger than a solo paraglider and can carry a weight range that encompasses both the tandem paraglider pilot and the tandem paraglider passenger. We operate tandem paragliding high glide experiences from our Mt. Tamborine and Beechmont sites close to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Whilst there are risks in any high adrenaline sport, Paragliding is a safe sporting activity when practised by professional instructors with years of experience and hundreds of flight hours. All our flight instructors are licensed by the Sports Aviation Federation of Australia. At Gold Coast Paragliding, we pride ourselves on our safety record.
Our Tandem Paragliding Flights off Mt. Tamborine on the Gold Coast Hinterland average about 10 minutes as we high glide from the 2000ft to the ground. However if we come across lift as we glide down, we will and often do use that life to stay up for longer, with flights sometimes lasting 30 minutes long.
